Children may have many different types of challenges. They may have physical disabilities, learning differences, attention difficulties, developmental delays and/or other special needs. They often need special kinds of help.
Parents of special needs students face extra challenges, too. Institutions and programs that are designed to help their children sometimes seem difficult to access, confusing to navigate, or even unwilling to provide the services the student needs. It can seem overwhelming and even hopeless.
Fortunately, parents and students have rights under federal and California law.
